When I was a kid, I was utterly fascinated with drawing. I’d draw cats, dogs flying planes, caricatures of my dad and countless other characters with charming features. I fondly remember making copies of my best works and sharing them with my family, and circulating them throughout the hallways of my parents’ offices. While the subject matter changed frequently, there was always a common underlying theme of humor, and fun. Years later my grasp of the language of humor has only deepened, along with my passion for illustration. Through all the changes, triumphs and struggles life can, and has offered, I believe that the value of humorous cartoons and images will always be a valuable commodity….and in that belief is where my art thrives….if you’re only moved to chuckle, or feel the corners of your mouth tipping slightly upward, then I have succeeded.
BIOGRAPHY
A long time ago, in a state not too far away, Steve was born in Kansas City,Missouri. After a delightful childhood, and precarious adolescence, Steve went off to college at Quincy University, and studied diligently to receive a B.A. in psychology, with dreams of one day becoming a psychologist…or at the very least, a jaded college professor.
Shortly after graduation, Steve enlisted for Americorps National Civilian Community Corps, and spent one term of service working on various projects. Shortly after his first term, he enlisted in a second term with Americorps St. Louis Emergency Response Team.
After finishing Americorps, and
almost two years in the private sector, Steve returned to his earlier goals,
and enrolled at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science, where he completed his Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling, and Certificate of Healthcare Education. Following graduation, he began teaching in an adjunct capacity, and taught classes in learning methodologies and educational policy.
In such time, he had also found work in the courts, and as a mental health counselor.
Through all of the new positions and rigor, Steve still found simple pleasure in coming home to his sketchbook, and drawing a host of caricatures and puns.
At the end of the day, Steve still felt called to pursue his art, and felt it best to explore the thing that had captivated his heart since childhood.
In the fall of 2016, Steve moved across the country to Denver, and enrolled tentatively at Rocky MountainCollege of Art & Design. In his(hopefully) last college experience, Steve held art showings at Bardo Coffee House, and one showing at Dungeons & Drafts, a Fort Collins based restaurant. Additionally, Steve sharpened his designskills at two internships….one in education & outreach, the other in webdesign. In his free time he has completed several commissions for privatecollectors and small businesses across the country. Steve is anxiously awaiting his graduation inSpring 2019, and has hopes of one day adopting a shelter puppy.
